Having the shadow skins in no way means they know what they are doing (sure the chances are higher). It simply means they had extra cash and at some point went to the website.
Black armor however is different.
Both serve as a way to easily pick and stick to, a target.
*looks around and wonders if he's the only one who is thinking about going back to default skins so they are targeted less*
Probably will only work for the first encounter.
It's easy enough to identify and remember the good players after the first few encounters, and adjust game plans accordingly. The scoreboard helps, too.
Actually, I take that back. Most pub players don't use this basic level of game sense anyway.
I do not agree with the sentiment that they are harder to track due to their slightly darker colors.
My mind perceives moving things all the same in computer games on flat screens where my eyes focus only at one depth.
In ns1 this was still true to me. If it moves, shoot. But ns2 introduced some moving sh*t to maps so I guess I adapted. I still see myself reacting faster to regular skulks than shadow skulks. So this option would definitely help.

this would be true if you weren't human. as it stands the brain distinguishes moving objects based both on contrast and on motion. sure, if the contrast is above a certain threshold, you might not see much difference in tracking the target against the background, but lower than that threshold and you will make mistakes.
also apparently, high contrast movement evokes a bias toward overestimation of speed and low contrast underestimation.
do you know what Neil Degrasse Tyson calls optical illusions? brain failures.

It is quite possible, although not probable, that shadow skins could have been bought the first time someone ever played the game but black armor signifies that the person at least had previous experience in NS1, not to mention said person loved NS enough to pay double the asking price early in development, which can give the impression that the person is at least decent in the genre.
Also, there is a clause in my Black Armor contract that allows me to write run on sentences on this forum.
I'm off the opinion the shadow skulk is only detrimental to the player using it, say a shadow skulk and 2 regular skulks come at you, you can at least track one and not get mixed up which one you were targeting before, same for lerks gorges etc.
If you watch damage numbers and can follow the object it's not hard to know which skulk is on which health, I'm pretty certain their player names appear over their model too which makes it REALLY easy. I don't have any issue separating out moving objects, that's easy, but losing track of one altogether is an issue sometimes.

The fact that you say "'m pretty certain their player names appear" makes me feel like you don't utilise this feature. And sure 90% of the time it's not necessary to track but sometimes it's impossible to track (2 gorges round a corner, skulks dodge behind a box), a team member jumps in front of you, etc.). It's a lot easier to track colors then names (oh and names only show in close proximity)

Wait, what?

But I do think that you should have the option to not have to see it, if it really does have an impact.

AND if you directly look at them.
