Marine knock down animation?

From another thread.. Why not have a cool knock down animation where the marine looks like someone pulled the rug out from under him? Instead of the current "Instantaneous pancake" move they do.. Would really make it more satisfying to stomp marines as on onos and would make the game look a lot cooler.

It's been suggested on numerous occasions. An unpaid community member will probably have to do it

I'd say that's quite low priority but it would be a nice touch. It's probably already on their "Nice to have" list (aka "the stuff we'll likely never get around to due to having more pressing issues" list).

There already is a knock down animation. It just doesn't exist for the view models and most likely never will. As you'd have to animate all the view models which aren't even in the modelsrc folder...

As I said before - I don't care about other UWE games until I see NS2 finished.

Agreed that is a low priority task however UWE has addressed much lower priority tasks in the recent patch.. adjusting the drifter and trees in the main menu.. really? Who gives a crap about that??

You are a little over my head with the description of "It just doesn't exist for the view models" but it doesn't seem like coming up with a single animation for marines would be that hard? We already have dozens of other animations for all models how much effort would it be to implement one more? Even if it doesn't look perfect it would be better than the current insta-pancake flop.

You need the source view models as in 3ds max files to animate them. Which doesn't exist for every variant. You'd have to add the animation to every variant.

@Samusdroid All it needs is for the view camera to accelerate towards the floor rather than just... teleport there. The hands/weapons can vanish as they do currently for all I care, that's not important.

Do you still need seperate animations for every model if all you're animating is the camera position, without respect to the veiwmodels?

Good point , that way at least the player being stomped will be able to conclude what just happened to him more easily rather than just notice "Hey I'm instantly looking at the ceiling" .

It's been a gripe of mine for ages, it's slightly better now that the camera gets blurred so you know something's happenned but it still just seems really unpolished and unlike the professional game ns2 could be

I doubt they will. Any kind of real development are put into large "packs" like reinforced, and the devs will rarely (if ever) do that again. Basically they slowed the majority of NS2 development long ago.

Yes, it would require animating the camera of the view models.

Would be cool I suppose, but I won't lose any sleep over it not being implemented, it's very, very minor. For effort:result it's probably not even worth it.
If the devs were to invest more effort in the game I'd rather it go to so many other things.
