Game Crashes on start with a fatal error

I've bought the game with the humble bundle recently and have tried to play it and have tried almost every fix on the forums such as
Re installing
Changing the D3D9 to D3D11
and many others

You appear to be missing some files:
Error: Couldn't load 'renderer/Drawer.shader' (file not found)
Error: Couldn't load 'game_setup.xml'

Very Likely you are running into an issue with either the files being not there, unlikely since you re installed, or you have a permissions issue.

The second option is also more likely since your files listing which is normally md5 hashes of all your ns2 files is completly blank instead of having ~17k files in it.


I dont know a whole lot about your set up, but i would guess that something is blocking by the ns2 executable access to the ns2 install folder. Obvious choices include file permissions, security software of some kind, or something truly odd.


Any more details about you install/ machine you feel comfortable sharing would be helpful at this point.
