Beacon sound sometimes not playing :(

I KNOW I'm not the only person who has this problem: but sometimes, when there are a lot of other sounds going on, the beacon sound doesn't play. I don't mean that I simply can't hear it because everything else is too loud, I mean, the sound does not play! My guess is it's being cut off prematurely to make room for other, less-important sounds to play.
This has gotten me killed on many, many occasions, and really wish you guys would fix this... or perhaps even add a "sound channels" option to the game so I can crank that up!

The sound limit has been lessened to prevent 32 bit related crashes.
We're working on sound priorities for the next patch, however.
Can we make it so 64-bit systems have a higher sound limit?
