I'm using Win7 64 bit. Any other specs needed let me know
EDIT: Links to profile log and techsupport stuff in a post below.
EDIT2 : Okay, basically my problem can be summarised as follows. ignore what I said before as I was erroneously linking it to a similar 'feeling' issue I had before.
While playing NS2, the game frequently stops receiving new input from the mouse for a period of time from 1second to 10+ seconds. Basically, I am looked facing one direction, and if I have any button held on the mouse when it starts, that button will stay 'held' until it ends.
Sometimes when it happens, I get the windows sound to indicate the device has been unplugged (no 'plugged in' sound follows mind you, though I do get functionality back).
I sometimes get a considerable bit of FPS lag when it happens, at the start of the 'seizure'; the screen will freeze for half a second or so- for instance I will, to me, appear to freeze and then teleport some distance.
Device manager reports everything working fine.
Nothing untoward in the event viewer.
No issues in any other application. Just NS2.
This issue started a few days ago and seems to have gradually gotten worse. It happens on every server and with any mouse.

@ironhorse You're smart, get tagged
Seems to happen each time a player gets within a certain radius of me, i.e. when the game has to load some new stuff, possibly. Not a technical expert but I'm aware this can be a trigger for certain issues.
Sometimes it will just disable my mouse altogether- as in, mouse lights go off and I need to plug it in again to get my computer to recognise it.
Definitely don't get this issue in anything other than NS2.
But yeah that's the gist of it and maybe run a profile and add that to the zip as well, they can do magical things with that stuff...
Download link is where it says 'tech-support.zip' at the top.
Aaaand here's the profile log:

I can't play the game like this

Try running with r_stats enabled, are you setting frame rate slowdowns when the lag happens? If so look for background programs pausing ns2 execution, some av systems will periodically stop the executable to scan it.
Does it work with a different mouse? It's possible that your mouse is failing.
Also, Your log has a good number of mods still running , but other wise looks clear:

Ok, so I've tested with another mouse and it works. So I have a temp fix.
EDIT: Nope, switching mouse fixed it for about a half hour before it started playing up again in exactly the same way. Poop.
Have you yet attempted uninstalling your mouse drivers and reinstalling them with the latest?
(list mouse model and driver version for bonus points)
* mods.. seriously. Thats a lot of mods doing similar jobs. Also memory leaks on the bottom of the log AND console command spam. Almost all of these point to...mods. Run ns2 without any mod, check console to be sure. Dont continue until this is done!
* reinstall chipset & usb drivers.
* use different usb port. (usually front/back)
* unplug as many usb devices as you can while testing the failing device to minimize a possibility of other hardware influencing the failing device.
* your failing device is broken.
* your CPU can not even closely keep up. (lowering usb polling rate may help)
* test in lower / lowest graphic settings because 'why not.'
* test on a listenserver or official EMPTY uwe servers.

- Done, as I said in a previous post the techsupport dump was from when I had just cleared my workshop folder. I don't actually have any mods enabled currently
* reinstall chipset & usb drivers.
- Also done
* use different usb port. (usually front/back)
- Done to death
* unplug as many usb devices as you can while testing the failing device to minimize a possibility of other hardware influencing the failing device.
- All that's plugged in is my mouse and keyboard.
* your failing device is broken.
- Both mice I've tried have 'broken' in exactly the same way, and only when I am playing ns2
* your CPU can not even closely keep up. (lowering usb polling rate may help)
- 3 cores of 3.6ghz isnt enough for ns2? lol
* test in lower / lowest graphic settings because 'why not.'
- done, no dice
* test on a listenserver or official EMPTY uwe servers.
- Did a quick 5-minute test, wasnt getting any mouse issues. I've had a couple of periods today where I wasn't getting any issues for an hour or two, but then the issues returned with a vengeance.
I assure you my PC is very clean. No process starts without my explicit permission.
As I said earlier, the mouse issues seem to coincide with hitches from loading things in-game, like when other players get near or if I am approaching a base. (base rushes = no mouse for 20 seconds lolz)
Did you get a chance to check through the log/demo I posted?
@ironhorse
Gotta go back on what I said before: It behaves the same regardless of the mouse I use. With the crappy £5 mouse the problems are slightly fewer and further between but still very much there.
perhaps the servers you play on are just dying.
This is doing my head in, cannot figure it out -__- weirdest issue 2013
... And I can't have a good game until its fixed! (
The Ghz value has no real indication on speed of a CPU. You can have a 4Ghz Pentium 3 that is no where near as fast as a 4Ghz Core i7. Your CPU Launched Q4 2010, and was not in the performance sector.
As you can see from above, just because you have a Ghz value that seems high, you CPU performance is on the low side for a modern CPU.
Make sure in your Option you have Ambient occlusion turned off. all settings to low, and in your Nvidia graphics panel change all options to low or manual, or fastest. Especially frame buffer to 2.
I noticed you have a 580 GPU as well. Your system is horribly bottlenecked by your CPU which cannot possibly keep up with the GPU of that power.
Would CPU bottlenecking explain why the game has started doing this, after being fine for the past year or so I've been playing it?
Is there any way to test this without buying a new cpu?
Damnit, I'm basically going to need to build half a new computer to sort this out arent I >__> gah
more dust in cooling, ns2 asking slightly more, etc
MSconfig and admin services etc? (if you dont know how to do that let me know)
... So basically I was testing a broken mouse against... A broken mouse. So I have TWO mice with faulty connections, rather than none.
All I have is an old wireless mouse I had lent out to a friend now, 125hz polling rate, RIP my aim until my new mouse comes.
Dont get me wrong though, it was definitely disconnecting a hell of a lot more during gameplay. Why, I cannot fathom. Can't find any loose connections in the mouse so I think it's a faulty chip I guess.
And would you believe I'm tech support in the daytimes :P
failing device is broken was on my list.
Yeh, this is why I keep around hardware I know works to test, even if it blows for gaming.
