Heavy Rubber-banding Issue (Game unplayable)

BloodvayneBloodvayne Uk Join Date: 2013-12-27 Member: 190946Members
I'm experiencing heavy rubber-banding in all my games, despite playing on official servers, having high FPS, low ping (20-30) yet frequently my movement is heavily lagged whilst my shooting remains normal.
I have tried a great deal of fixes yet nothing seems to work.
Ive disabled my static Ip, Firewall, all anti-virus, updated gfx drivers, performed diagnostics, defragged, uninstalled the game and played around in graphics from low to high etc

I love this game but I'm very frustrated, has anyone else experienced these problems and solved them?

    Phew! I am relieved that you've posted here otherwise I'd be searching everywhere else for a fix just as you've mentioned that you have done. I too am facing similar issues in every server that I join. A little red Ethernet icon appears on the left side of the screen and I get stuck in the ready room rubber banding everywhere. I can hear the other players mics just well, my ping is relatively low and the game just becomes unplayable to say the least.

    Edit: If it helps to mention that my fps is about 20 with the settings on very low. Checked the firewall and it seems to be allowing NS2. Other than that, i'm not a tech guy so I couldn't tell you what's going on.

    IS there any resolution?

    I'm not receiving the red icon for connection issues, it's simply just moving me around in a very delayed fashion.

    Regardless of that difference and all other similarity, I bid you good luck.

    lets start with a net_stats 1

    Here's a picture I took of net_stats 1, my ping and the little red ethernet icon on the left. As of taking this, I was rubber banding around unable to join a team in the ready room. (This happens in every server I join)

    Sorry to hijack this bloodvayne but maybe we're experiencing the same issue? If not I can just start my own thread...

    Well @kkyle, your issue is you are sending packets at a rate of 0.0kbs this means that you basically are not sending anything to the server. Which means when ever the server tells you where you are you are in the same place.

    As to why that is happening it is a different question. However its pretty much gonna be a network issue on your router, or your pc.

    Hmmmm, do you see a dc icon to the left?

    Post your system specs and what kind of router you use. It would also be nice to see some speed.net results. Is this only on specific servers?

    @kkyle
    I find your client rate is fairly low.
    What happens to your fps and netstats if you run your own listenserver?

    @confused Apparently flipping the router on and off does nothing to help as that is the only knowledge I contain within these technical terms of network issues and such. But I thank you for contributing and not sticking true to your name of clarifying in such ways for that even I may understand ;).

    @Dc_darkling ~ As of typing this I have not attempted to run my own listenserver within these current settings of netstats flipped on. I'm not sure if i'll get to it either, knowing that now my issue is involved within the network itself and not on my own computer.

    I'm afraid that I don't have anything else to contribute to this matter... Happy new years to all If this is to be the last message and such! :)

    It is likely that it is in your network, but still not 100% guaranteed.
    a listenserver is up and running fast enought and worth the check.

    As for your network. Cable or wifi?

    * go to a command prompt in your computer. (cmd)
    * type 'ipconfig' > enter
    * lookup the number (ip) of the standard gateway
    * typing ping <gateway> /t (so like ping 192.168.1.1 /t) > enter
    * Let it run for a while. You should not see any interrupts, losses. you only should replies with a VERY low value. (anything above 10ms is already a big problem)
    * ctrl+c > enter or close it when done with the red x.
    * repeat the same with ping google.com /t (or any site accepting pings)
    * check for loss on the site ping.

    @dc_darkling the issue has been resolved by a simple re-installation of NS2.

    got the same rubberbanding on most servers, but only in ns2, no other games...
    my internet connection is fast (75/7,5 mbit)
    pinging my gateway got me values below 10ms, only one or two hickups (maybe for 10 secs) of 10-30 ms, pinged for about 3 mins.
    pinging google was about 5-15 ms.
    so is it probably my internet connection or something else?

    makes playing the game a little bit annoying :(
    haven't played that much recently, but 2-3 months ago i had no rubberbanding issues...

    Sigh, the issue is back. Looks like it's time for another 6 month hiatus from NS2. Not that it was fun playing with 10 FPS using the super low res mod and 3 minute loading times in between. Though one may miss the form of communication this game provides.

    check your network drivers. ESPECIALLY if its a onboard chip.

    * The logic is as follows.. onboard cards use the CPU a lot more then pci/pci-e cards. On a lot of traffic the cpu usage in terms of interrupts and the sorts, can get high pretty damn fast.
    * Normal programs do not show this cpu usage! (interrupts are standard not shown but programs like process explorer, from sysinternals.com, often show.
    * If your ns2 is maxing your cpu max out, and your nic is also pushing like mad for cpu, then one has to give. Only weird thing is that technicly, interrupts should have priority.

    @KKyle,

    That issue is very much like the wireless internet issues that I used to experience. Do you use wired or wireless internet? Also, what are your system specs? As DC_Darkling previously mentioned, a client rate(FPS) of 13, is really low. Working out why your machine is being used so heavily will enable us to pinpoint causes and offer possible solutions.
