    stab was ever considered OP?

Stab was OP when not a single person could hold more than 40 fps.
I'd guess turrets would be OP in that situation too.

They actually were, but they were usually countered with the op lerk bile bomb.

I still have nightmares about the endless turtling with 20 sentries in operations.

IIRC sentries were the counter to lerk bile bomb rather than the other way round, due to how difficult it was to kill lerks at 5fps. Then the only counter to the endless expanding turret turtle was building a million whips to soak up damage while the rest of the team take down the power.

I remember commanding one of those games where I just edged out turrets further and further from spawn. There was a lot of rage due to the tedious cheese strat but at least we scored a marine victory amongst a veritable ocean of alien stomps.

Well, yeah, the wall of sentries pretty much countered everything, but you could always disable them with spores if you managed to get in there somehow.

    Good times

Drifters were the cheap counter to sentries then, plus they could attack.

FYI Lerk Spores still block sentries! Hooray for Lerk Support!

Do they really *block* them completely? I read somewhere (wiki, probably) that they only decrease the sentries' accuracy.

Every time I've tried, they make the confused beep and stop firing completely
