While I play alien, everything works great, but while I am a marine, every time I shoot my gun it blacks out the screen. Game is working, including sounds, movement, even my bullets are hitting the target, but the screen turns black while I am shooting then returns as soon as i stop.

this is very likely to be an shader issue, please remove the folder at %appdata%/natural Selection 2/cache. then try again.

If that does not solve your issue please folllow the instructions in the how to make a good tech support post here: http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/131384/how-to-make-a-good-tech-support-post

I just got a new "gaming" laptop with Windows 8.1. I am having the exact same problem as the OP. I deleted the cache as suggested. It did not do anything.

So there are only two people that have reported this issue? Wonderful. And to think NS2 was one of the core reasons I bought a gaming laptop.

Can anybody help me with this? The game is obviously completely unplayable.

I figured it out. I had to turn the "bloom" video setting off. No idea why this laptop needs it off but oh well. Maybe its a windows 8.1 thing? Or a GeForce 860m thing, not sure. Thanks.
