There should be an option NOT to see shadow textures on aliens.

Yes, the shadow textured models are harder to see and track, hinders my capability of killing said aliens. I think there should be an option in General Options to make everyone use default textures/models.
In a game like NS, it isn't acceptable of having a "harder to see" texture in a competitive environment.

Harder to see in dark rooms but easier to see in well lit areas. There are advantages and disadvantages of each. Regardless, many people donated just to get these skins available to them. I doubt unknown worlds will make an option to take that away from them.

Not every game, but NS2 does have paid international tournaments and all.

I don't particularly see the need for it, and I actively oppose it as a user setting. If it's a matter of competitiveness, then it could be incorporatedinto the NSL mod for use in official matches/tournaments.
But no, I don't want average joe public disabling my shadow skin - I want them to run in fear when they see me coming

I'm down for this. A mod on the servers that want to have it disabled (IE. NSL Mod) would be a good idea. I too have been the victim of losing focus on shadow skulks when they jump/run over dark textures.
