FPS hitching/freezing

Hello everyone.
I bought NS2 as a preorder long ago, and enjoyed it immensely, back then it ran quite well on my pc, then yesterday i reinstalled it (steam), and the performance is slightly worse, but it's not that bad, what is bad however are these fps freezes/hitches, they come at random, it doesn't matter if there is any action or not.
I'd be walking around normally, and suddenly the frames freeze for a second or two maximum, then back to normal, happens anywhere from twice a match to 10 times, and it has resulted in my death many times.
Is this normal for the current client build??, or is there something wrong with my computer?

Random thought...
@Locklear had a similar issue a while back. He used to get microfreezes almost every engagement. He replaced his HDD and the problem went away.
so in other words, yes that is normal for the current build?
Unless you have an ssd, sadly yes. But the next build should improve that a lot.
And just so you know, the next build is scheduled for "any second now". You can check their progress on the CDT trello: https://trello.com/b/91ApENY6/ns2-cdt-development-tracker You'll notice there is nothing left to do in the "Fixes to be tested" or "doing" columns.
that's ok UW, i love you no matter what
i guess i'll just use a ramdisk for now.
But yes ram is still faster then a ssd.
On ram>vram and slower.
Vram is faster but has higher latency although I feel that is not what you are getting at.
So yes running ns2 on a ram disk would make it faster, but it would technicly not solve the problem of running out vram.
Additionally, the b267 changes on the Trello cards fixed the issue on my HDD as well.
