I have noticed that the game takes a bit longer to load now for me, and also longer for everyone else to begin appearing in the Ready Room over map changes. Anyone else?
Multithreading and not flushing the cache at mapchange- First speeds up hdds to their read limit, 2nd will change the way you see mapchanges in ns2 forever
After switching from 267 to 268 you can't go back as ns2 modder.
We sacrificed the sacred OrangePants to the prophet @matso.
NOT the orange pants. That was the highlight for the first 10 minutes of the WC for me (before the match). I couldn't take my eyes off it. It just grabbed my eye ball like like like... That social media woman's ummmmmm white top.

I hope this doesn't mean some sort of lingering unwanted resources beeing brought in from last map. I already have the feeling, that with each mapchange my FPS drops more.

No, unneeded textures and other stuff gets deleted after the mapchange if not needed.
That said, of course always look out for stuff like this and report it if you detect it. But nothing of that kind has been found yet (and it should not happen from the way it was implemented)
now, how can I go get another beer between mapchanges?
You can do it in the 30min it takes until every guy joined up from the readyroom and 2 commanders are found
What this game needs is a "short afk mode" that plays an *extra* loud signal when the game is actually starting. So you know if you need to hurry back, or can take your time

In 268, due very soon - load times are back to, or significantly quicker than 266.
Without hitching?
268 will be on-par or faster in the initial load than 266, and super-duper-fast between map changes.
Like going from Dial-Up to Broadband.
