Let's crowdfund the Linux bugfixes!

It seems that some long-standing Linux issues aren't addressed at all. Namely:
1) mic not working when connecting via Steam join or connect:// url;
2) weapon firing crash;
3) cyrillic chat and translations.

They are surely not a priority, I can tell that because it was months without a single change in this area. So here's the deal. CDT works for free, for fun (probably). That's not fair and isn't right, any efforts shoud be paid for, especially when it's not even an opensource but a paid game and CDT gets nothing from profits no matter how big or small they are. I believe there are people who want to help CDT and motivate them to fix what we consider the worst and annoying bugs.

There's "bountysource" website just for this (crowdfunding bugs and features) but it's only for opensource projects. We can figure something out for ourselves anyway.

I'm ready to put at least $150 (debatable) for cyrillic chat fix, I'm sick and tired opening the console just to look what people without mics say. It heavily distracts me and leaves me vulnerable for attacks. This bug is critical for me and I prefer it over any features addition and balance changes. I want my goddamn cyrillic chat ASAP and I'm ready to pay for it.

So what do you think?

    Believe me, if we could fix that, we would. Its not a matter of wanting or even time, but skill. the CDT currently has no real linux developer on board. And no linux developer will join for 150$. So what needs to be done is finding somebody that is interested in ns2 and doing engine level work. Until then progress is going to be slow on that front (sadly)

    We need some ns2 evangelical work. We go website to website, community to community, preaching the good word.

    That's quite contrary to what I heard. It was said, there's several Linux devs and at least one works on the engine. Well, $150 is just a start, I know it's pocket money. The problem here is that the engine is completely closed-source, Linux devs unlikely will develop something for free that doesn't (eventually) belong to the community, at least that's what I saw for years. And it's not even because of it being a commercial product. For example, UE4 is a "paid, cheap opensource engine", it's not free (neither as beer, nor as freedom) but there's already a bunch of linux devs porting and polishing the tools and the engine itself. Because their work will be semi-publicly available and everyone benefits from that.

    That said, the only option left is to find somebody who's both a huge NS2 fan and a Linux dev. I'm not savvy in C/C++, unfortunately, so the only thing I can help with is money.
