Linux server - is it possible?

Hello everyone <developers and gamers of this fantastic game>!
I've a small problem with my game and I would be glad if someone could help me out.
Natural Selection 2 works fine for me if I join to a server, no problems here at all.
The problem is: when I want to go sandbox/vs bots/make a listen server, the game shows me the splash screen, loads for about 6 seconds and then hangs with "Loading...", i got it once on "initialising".
Don't get me wrong, it is an fantastic game and I'm glad that I can play it on Linux - but it would be also nice to be able to make your own server (for maybe some future purposes).
Has anyone also this problem? I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32-bit, up to date NVIDIA graphic drivers (tested both, 331 and the updated 331).
I think it's not a problem with caching or some rendering, because I can join a game - I just can't create one.
