Everybody knows how much NS2 depends on a speedy SSD.
As it turns out, if you happen to own a Samsung 840 Evo, its speed will take a massive hit if you try to access older files.
The older the file's creation date, the slower it becomes.**
You can read all about it here: http://www.computerbase.de/2014-09/840-evo-ssd-schwaechelt-bei-alten-daten-loesung-in-arbeit/

Luckily, Samsung promised a firmware fix for October.
**I witness this effect with my own NS2 - finally I got an explanation why loading times have become mysteriously abysmal lately, although I installed NS2 on my SSD, reaching waiting times of more than 2 minutes for the first map after starting the game. After hearing the news, I deleted and reinstalled NS2 yesterday and suddenly the first map load is lightning fast again.
Well, I'm definitely looking forward to the proper (firmware) fix.
