<div class="IPBDescription">Hints to bring back from the brink</div> Sometimes things just go wrong, and you get that inevetable situation where the aliens just took their third hive and its only a matter of time before green gas starts flying everywhere and theres all these ANGRY ONOS.
But it will often take them a short while to really start hurting you ...
One tactic I've noticed works incredibly well in that situation is... tell all your troops to stay the heck in the base and not to leave until they have at least HMG + HA. Then start dropping hmg and HA. HA first... and welders galore. Even if you're low on creds and it will take 2 or 3 minutes, just keep everyone there and dont let them go until they are completely full. And then bind a key to "WELD EACH OTHER" and press it OFTEN. Spam it, even. Once you have 6-7 marines outfitted with HMG + HA (and one grenade or maybe two) waypoint them to a hive and drop health like candy, spamming 'WELD EACH OTHER'
Even with gas flying all over the place and onos charging around, you'll be very surprised at just how much dies from 4-5 HMG + HA marines welding each other, moving in a clump. After outfitting all my guys like that in a losing game we ended up taking it back from the brink (3 hives, onos, stuck in base) all the way to victory. Because theres VERY LITTLE AT ALL which can actually stop 6-9 welding, hmg / gren + ha marines... and if they die, they die rarely. Just drop health lots...
And tell everyone: do NOT leave the base without armor. ;p
babysit them (micro manage like crazy) If they split into groups then drop health on both groups (mad skillz) and build armories etc, sieges, the usual tactics but everything should revolve around keeping those guys alive.
I've seen the 'stay in base until fully outfitted' work so very well. The last thing aliens expect when they are sieging your base is for 9 fully armored hmg welder marines to come pouring out in a huge wall of death.

But until then, it works really well. Of course, a coordinated group of 3-4 fades/lerks blinking into close combat can be tough .. but most aliens don't work that well together.
