Server browser freeze/refuses to accept mouse+keyboard commands - after failure to connect to server

Short one here. On occasion, after failing to connect to a server the server browser will "freeze" and not respond to either keyboard or mouse commands. The mouse cursor is still visible, but attempting to select a server to join, to update the server list, etc. produces no tactile movement nor any change in the game. Attempting to use the keyboard - for example pressing escape to return to the main menu - similarly produces no result. Oddly, the console will still work, and readily opens upon pressing the tilde key. Using the console to change the game's state (i.e. by using the "retry" command) will successfully fix the issue, even if you fail to connect. However it is possible to "chain" failures, that is to fail to connect once, get the stuck server browser, use the retry command, and get stuck again. Repeated connection failures will eventually 'free' the browser, however.

An odd way to trigger this error is by quickly pressing escape (returning to the main menu) after being kicked back to the server browser, which then allows you to "ok" the server error message, and then re-open the server browser... which will work properly for several seconds before becoming stuck.

Issue first seen roughly 3 weeks ago.
