Hi, im new and recently i have NS2 running normal
For the first game with bot and trainning , game seem fine
But when join multiplayer server >> When ever i played about 15 min , or try to switch to fullscreen /Windowed , or do what ever like Press B evolve egg >> Crash and press OK to exit game "Fatal error"
I have 4gb ram , running Windows7 32bit OS . Tried Verify Game Cache 100% >> Still not working
So just want developers can fix this error on next patch 275 ? I can wait in the mean time ^^ THanks
P/s : My screen hang while this Error happen , Task manager cant even open . But i have change to WindowedFullscreen mode and try connect to a server again
Play around 30 min and this error happen again , here is link like @IronHorse said while NS2.exe still open
http://www.mediafire.com/download/bavq9z7dz0y7x4s/FatalError-Techsupport.zip
My MiniDump file ( capture the first time with ProcessExplorer)

Second Full Dump file (larger than previous)
hope that dev team can fix this on next update !

This will generate a dump file for us to examine.
Out of curiosity why are you running in 32 bit?
i cant change cuz im playing at InternetCafe , please help me i want to show this game to my friends in public ><
then it crash to desktop with a little pop-up window Error : "FATAL ERROR" ??
You can do the techsupport.exe, while the FATAL ERROR pop-up is open, I think. If you have trouble simply alt-tabbing out of game, these sometimes help to unstuck things: win-D to show desktop OR left ctrl-shift-esc(=opens task manager) OR ctrl-alt-delete and select open task manager from the screen.
If you can CTRL + ALT + DEL to get to the task manager, then go to
File > Run new task > Click Browse > Navigate to your NS2 install directory and select TechSupport.exe .. it may take a way to make the dump file.
Save the zip file it makes and upload it somewhere on the internet and link it here for us.
its like Screen just "hang" in that error ><
here is tech support file with dump file like you said >> i have wait 5 min till its done >> save

Thanks for the tech_support.zip. However it does not include any kind of memory dump. Please use the following steps to create one once you run into the situation of ns2 crashing or freezing:
P/s : right click on it there is 2 line Minidump or FullDump which one shoudl i click on ?
Maybe create both and upload them separated. So we can first have a look at the minidump before needing to download about 400 mb
i will try full dump in window mode
Even when i have increase to 2GB + its still happen but in about 30 min =='
Is there any-other way ? I cant creat dump file it make my PC "unrespond" and i can only move my mouse ?
If even that doesn't work try this:
1) Run ProcessExplorer
2) Run something that wastes a lot of memory (e.g. Firefox with lots of tabs)
3) Run the game and crash it
4) Close the memory waster (e.g. Firefox)
5) Create the dump from the ProcessExplorer you opened before
6) Compress and post it
Try and tell if that works. If not I will invent some more extreme way to do it for you.
THanks but this not work , still crash ( 20 tab Firefox i have let ito pen while running NS2 ) and i cant even open ProceXP . My computer still "unrespond" like that =.='
Also try regular Windows Task Manager (you run it by pressing ctrl+shift+esc OR ctrl+alt+del and clicking "Run task manager" OR writing "taskmgr" in your Start menu). It is similar to Process Explorer (right mouse click on the NS2.exe process and click "create dump").
Make sure you have plenty free HDD space to store the dump.
Does the Process Explorer fail to make even the mini-dump? Post that one for now at least.
I whipped up something: Download this zip and unzip it anywhere, run run.cmd, run Natural Selection 2 and play untill it freezes, wait untill the dump is made(few minutes), the game should unfreeze. You should have dmp file in the folder(Hopefuly it works on your PC too). What it does is that it makes dump automatically, if the NS2 uses more than ~2.3GB RAM (you can set the exact value by editing run.bat). If you do not trust the exe from me download fresh one directly from Microsoft.
but i will try it when i have time
The script I provided above needs programmatic access to Windows Powershell and that you can run your own *.cmd scripts and *.exe programs. I think it should work in amateurishly made user restrictions in most Internet Cafées. If not try this version, which does not need Powershell, but works only on english Windows, which by your log you seem to have. If that version fails too try this version(which does not measure RAM usage as correctly as previous versions).
So to recapitulate:
try these dumper versions in this order, untill you find the one that works in your Café: v1, v2, v3
1) Unzip them anywhere and run the run.cmd script
2) Run the game
3) Alt+tab out of game to see the script is running properly. It should write something like this: 4) Play the game untill it freezes(high NS2 RAM usage was detected and dump is being made - make sure you have > 4GB free HDD space too). Wait few minutes, the game should unfreeze.
5) Exit game or just go on playing. You should have the dmp file in the folder with procdump.
6) Archive it as much as you can (prefer 7zip or rar which gets you better compresion ratio), and post it.
7) Hopefully it will get the devs a hint as to how to fix the problem eventually
Game is playable , but its keep annoying me when you have to use Process Explorer to kill NS2.exe >> and run from Steam again
P/s: i will try your dump when i have time , but fatal error still there for developers
The minidump seems to point to the same issue I have in my thread. For the full dump it sais to me it is corrupted. It is only 1.2 GB so I assume you intrrupted the dump process or your PC crashed at that point. @IronHorse or @GhoulofGSG9 , can you verify that?
Then i have to endtask it , too much time for a game i have to report bug for developers =='
In cyber Cafe , when your PC "not respond" >. the only option is reset PC , btw they have DeepFreeze those computer so im lost Natural Selelction 2 and have to re-download it again
Yeah the mini-dump looks very alike the network caused out of memory issue. Unless someone finds working repo-steps (beside playing some time on a 32bit OS) for this issue it will sadly take some time to fix it.
@Perman12 do you also see a red-plug a few mins before the crash is happening?
P/s : Red plug >> then press C mini-map i see icon of Aliens and Marine "freeze" >> next is my team "freeze" >> then crash
This time im leave that PC for about 15 min >> Process Explorer become respond again after click Creat Full Dump
I get it on 64bit OS, assuming it is the same issue. I get it on all maps, in all situations, on various servers, during round(including being spectator). I think there is no simple repo. Only connection I see is that both of us have lame CPU. On the more enthusiasitic note:
Is there something we can still try on our side, or are we done for now?
