Suggestion: Material nodes give multiples

I was playing around in Subnautica gathering materials and thought about how boring it was just gathering materials in areas.

World of Warcraft uses mineral nodes which gives random amounts of minerals at a certain amount of random hits, it is usually 2-3(4) hits and can net 3-6(8) minerals. I think Subnautica having a type of node system would help a lot in terms of gameplay such as, how exciting it would be to hit a node and finding out the amount of material I get, I could determine which node to go for first in a dangerous area depending on its size (size determines # of returned material)), and it would encourage me to explore into deeper waters where bigger nodes could exist.... but bigger dangers exist.

Thoughts?

    Think it would be nice to have mining points for the metal, having to search far and wide for one bit of wreckage or a peace of quartz is annoying especially if you are building a large sea base.
