When to restart the game?

If you have no sound. Verify Integrity of Subnautica files via steam, then Restart.
If you see things like spikes and weird colours. Save and Restart. Saving shouldn't break your save. Restarting will "probably" fix your problem.
If this doesn't fix the issue, check sound and video drivers are actually uptodate.
If you can't interact, save and restart. Like if you can't get into the Seamoth.
If you can't break the Jeweled Disks with your knife, it's a known issue, save and restart.
Can't think of any others off hand, except.. it's an alpha/beta unfinished game. Every hour or so, save the game, every 2-3 hours save and restart. Before it crashes. Or crash and send in the log file.. whatever works for you.
I've been reading the feedback reports, almost everyone is saying the same thing, which is both good and bad, good tho, that there's easy quick fixes as above.
