The Colony

I saw SPIRIN's discussion about rescue for our lone survivors, and I got an idea. Instead of being rescued and taken into space by response teams, what if the COLONY ships arrived unawares, and ask that you prepare the first colony for them? It would spare the need for an elaborate storyline and creation of an entire new ecosystem, plus make that great big ocean a little less lonely. What do you think?
