Greetings follow NS players,
I am not sure how many people use tools to browse/join games and how many just use the built in browser, but I highly recommend using half-life manager if you don’t like your current way to join games. It auto updates the server you have highlighted, and it is highly tweak-able. Another plus is its overall small size for people with slower connections.
It also has some nifty features like if you try to join a full server it will ask if you want it to wait until someone leaves then join. Very nifty to get into popular servers like vadkill without having to hammer retry a thousand times, just click yes and go get a drink and volia you are playing when you return
Many other little extras really make it a nice tool, like it will close winamp, aim, icq, and yahoo messanger. It even comes with scrips for irc.
So anyways if you are interested in trying this tool out (which, as of now, is free) check out there site here
Enjoy,
~Jeed~
(Note: I am not sure if i have the current version, but in mine i had to do a few advanced features to get it to look for NS games, if you cannot figure out how to get it to look for NS, then please feel free to post here and ill make up a little guide on how to)

that issue with the updating ALL servers is a WON problem (so far as I know)
aparently one of the servers if *beep*ed up so if you end up connected ot them you get screwerd up
not to sure about all this but that is what I know
Read the first post that I made and go to that link that’s there, it is a separate program, think game spy.

QUOTE

Does it have a buddy tracker and if so how many can you add, im useing teh all seeing eye and it only allows up to 4 buddies with unregistered and it updates itself with new filters every tiem a new update is out auto installs and they are all very small updates.

Indeed it does, actually it has two different kinds. One is a little menu (click on what looks like an AIM guy near the right of the toolbar, the bar with all the little icons). Once the buddy box thing is up right click in box and add names. Once you have added your buddies just refresh your server list (that would be called ‘get list from master server’) if there in a server a little dot show sup next to there name, you just double click on there name then and you can see what server there in, you can also see in the status what servers have buddies in them (the little dot next to the server name), but this is less effective because then it will only show up if your friend is in a server that meets the criteria for your servers (min ping, server not full, ect.).
The second I have not tried out, you and your buddies register and somehow it tells if your buddies are playing without refreshing any servers, I am not too sure, check out the site for more details.

Those are the answers to the best of my ability. Feel free to keep the questions coming, but if you seek 100% true answers I would check out the site and e-mail them your problems/questions.

I usually use the built in loader to join games, but the filter is messed up and loads up to thousands (literally, like 29,000) of servers that aren't even NS.
I think I'll use this baby
Trust mndeg and I on this one, you will never find a better one.

I still recommend useing HLM as of now if you care not to pay for all options, such as a unlimited buddy list, shows time left on map for those that support it, ect.
Thanks for the input,

oh btw ASE does show all rules for a server, all people playing on that server & their scores/times. Thus you can tell if your friends are playing, how long they've been playing for, how long is left on map and what server settings are active. It even displays full servers/servers running a map you don't have in red so you don't try and join it by mistake. Plus it gives a ping, ping fluctation and packet loss count for each server which helps avoid the nasty ones You can even rcon a server from it. Pretty classy stuff.
