It can GET boring, much quicker, for myself, than any other mod I've played, as it seems to become, for me, either a rush for a choke point, camp, or just get killed in seconds (I'm so bad, it seems, that it would be easier for me to just type kill into the console at spawn). Then wait for one team to win, and repeat. Over and over. NS offers me something new so much, I can't imagine getting bored often. I can lose myself so much that I play for 12 hours at a time, until I see dawn crack though my windows, and I don't even realize how much time has actually passed. I can play 20 matches, and every single one plays out differently.
Unoriginal? It certainly seems that way now, but people aren't calling the imitators team deathmatch clones, they are calling them Counterstrike clones. Team deathmatch had been done before, surely, but Counterstrike isn't unoriginal. For its time, it was innovative, and definitely offered something new.
It does require skill, otherwise I wouldn't end up with such horrid scores. Unless I have less skill than someone skill-less. Perhaps I was born with anti-skill.
As far as the lamers and cheaters part goes, that, tragically, is mostly correct. But, with a bit of searching, you can usually find a server that is admined very well.
To be honest, I tried Counterstrike a bit before it went retail, as it was highly advised by some friends of mine. I tried it out, but for me, the pinnacle of online play had come with Gloom, with long, involved, complicated matches. Counterstrike, in my opinion, was very simplistic in comparison. Granted, there were fun matches, but it wasn't able to hold my attention very long. I returned to my Gloom. After that, I moved onto Jailbreak, TFC, Science & Industry, and most recently, of course, NS, which I have been anticipating for quite some time.
So I prefer NS more, but one game is designed for quick, easy play, in which signing onto a server for 15 minutes and leaving is quite alright. The other is designed to captivate you for hours at a time, requiring a time dedication many can't give. So the question is, which type of gameplay would you prefer right now?

I've played CS for over 2 years, NS for less then a month. CS is pretty much *always* fun, while NS can be frustrating and sometimes even boring. Obviously the games are miles apart, so they are hard to compare, but from a pure enjoyment factor I will have to put CS a bit infront of NS at the moment. NS is still a great game though.
Oh, and I haven't seen a cheater in... umm... can't even remember the last time. And usually when I say "Follow Me" 90% of the people on my team follows. Bomb gets planted and defended, alternatively guarded or defused. Hostages gets rescued, VIP's are protected... then again, I only play on CoFR servers
There will never be anything better then CS... It is on its own plateau and you can't touch it.. Number one game in the world like 3 years running? how can you beat that...
OK ok NS Rox0r but better then CS? only time will tell It is however the best mod of this year or maybe even the last 2 years(Day of Defeat probably best last year), though specialist is a close 2nd.
I quite like CS, but NS plays the way CS *should* play - teamwork. The only "teamwork" you usually see in CS is each team staying in a big group as they sprint towards each for a 30 second deathmatch in the middle of the map. Everyone dead, next round, repeat. It's very rare to see the counterterrorists slowly moving towards their objective, securing areas and peeking round corners while covering each other, and few terrorists bother defening the hostages or trying plant the bomb. Most of the time it turns into a team deathmatch and nothing more. Still, it can be fun and I do play it from time to time (but like so many others here, I've played little but NS since Halloween).
NS (obviously) forces you to work as a team or you're going to lose. Playing it CS-style is going to get you respawned very quickly. About the only CS-type tactic you see is the initial skulk-rush which can often end the game in the first minute. Nothing wrong with that, except it makes for very boring games. If the skulks hold back for a minute or two the game will often last for at least an hour and be much more fun for everyone.
CS and NS are just different games and appeal to different players. It's just a matter of personal preference.

Natural Seletion requires brains and teamwork, Counter-Strike requires reactions, luck, a foul mouth, a good connection, and the overwhelming ability to think everyone is cheating and sucks.
NS is better than CS, but won't be more popular, because it require more than 5 brain cells in your head.
CS requires ALOT more practice than ns. Cs has been out for about 3-4 years now and alot of plaers have been playing that long too ALL people trying cs for the first time get rapped so hard its amazing anyone starts playing, but if you give it about 3 months and you soon start killing and getting alot better. At least with ns it is still new and everyone sucks atm dispite what they think. Teamwork just doesnt happen in public games i,m affraid but then cs was never designed as a public game and still isnt. NS is no different, designed to be played between two teams who work together like a clan but stick it on publics and like what was mentioned in a different topic the marines just suck because they rely on team work more than the aliens do.

From an overall game product: CS is better than NS. CS has better animations so you know when you've scored a hit on someone or something, likewise you know when you've been hit as well. The CS servers can host up to 32 players on high computers and connections, I've seen NS servers that barely can play 24 (simply a comparison of server performance). The balance in CS is better than NS. Issues of team balance in CS can be easily solved.
So answering the question, "Is Ns better than Cs?" given the present builds of each game the answer is "No."
As far as which game has more potential, NS is king. NS is a much more dynamic game, and could easily be the next great game concept for the next gen online games. Great work NS team, you guys got my full support!

In CS the teams have different hardware, have different starting points, and different objectives.
Well let's put it this way - I stopped playing CS (and uninstalled HalfLife) over two years ago when v1.0 of CS came out and it sorta sucked and the community first began to get overloaded with cheaters, whiners, and elitists.
Natural Selection has caused me to REINSTALL HalfLife - something I never expected to do again and become addicted enough that it's the only game I play when I have time (not as often as I'd like), and I even went so far as to purchase a t-shirt.
Well, ironically, there's ALOT of cheaters in NS. By that I mean basically wallhackers, who can use the open GL hacks to see thru walls, add extra crosshairs and make the models bright and easy to see. There's no VAC in NS. Ever since HL guard wallhack block came out, and valve incorperated its own into VAC... well, you can't cheat in CS anymore, except for aimbots which are supar-obvious.
In NS there's no VAC, and nothing stopping anyone from getting their own special "hive sight"
Well, that's why I said NS is a good game concept. It would be REALLY hard to detect a cheater in NS, whereas in CS it is much easier. That's an inherent problem if this game ever becomes really popular and competitive. Cheats may not seem to make much of a difference at first, but when you get nit-picky, it does a make a noticable difference. That's also why CS is a better product than NS is now. But I still play NS more
And clearly the Marines would benefit the most being able to track and shoot attackers, especially skulks, extremely easily with their near-hitscan bullets.
Alright, I must say this game is 100x better then CS. I have not fired up CS once since I downloaded NS, and I doubt I ever will. When/If they add the new play modes like Marine vs Marine and Alien vs Alien, I am sure it will become 100x more played then CS.

Simply because of the old engine, above-average learning curve, and the fact that you can win money at CS and many other games. I'm sure NS will recieve an honorable mention in several magazines, but not close to the attention that CS recieved.
NS lacks flexability that CS does to reduce the # of cheaters. This makes it hard for the average gamer to increase performance or even change things they like better (for example weapon models).
As far as cheats go. It is a LOT harder to detect cheats in NS. Simply because of hive site and motion tracking. In addition, there is no anti-cheat software out yet.

If it wasnt for all the cheaters in CS, it would be a great game. But now since bout every server runs into bout 10 cheaters a day it gets kind of **obscenity**. CS takes alot of skill and with cheats it just ruins it for the rest of the people. Right now I perfer CS more then NS only b/c I know alot more people in CS but I am slowly bringing them in to the NS world.

BTW does anyone play DOD? Actually I'll start a separate post about DOD.
OK, I'll have to disagree wtih you a bit.
