Lowering Resolution doesn't improve FPS. Some kind of scaling problem, I think. Please help.

I am trying to improve FPS, particularly late game, by lowering the resolution in game from native 1920x1080 to anything else, but the fps never drops.

limited specs:
fx6300
nvidia 670
Benq rl2455

r_stats shows me usually waiting on the world thread with occasionally a wait of 1 for the graphics thread.

I know the game is CPU bound and I don't have the best CPU, but shouldn't I get an fps increase by dropping from 1920 to 800x600?  I've looked in Nvidia control panel and in my monitor's OSD but have been unable to deduce settings that would fix this.

Also, probably unrelated, but my FPS is locked to 60 on the menu screen (not in game) regardless of whether vsync is on or off, and I would love for this to not be the case so I could compare graphics settings from the menu, but I can't figure it out.

Thoughts?

Not really because the CPU usage isn't really affected by the resolution you use(that's the rendering part) but how many entities are currently inside your view etc. .

So if you are heavily CPU limited changing the resolution won't help much. Try to go with multi threaded physics, turning down most graphic settings which add in more game world entities.

The FPS is locked to 60 FPS in the main menu so we have more power available for background resource pre-loading etc. .

To find your perfect config setup i would suggest to just join a empty server.

In the end if you are CPU limited your fps will drop even more in the late game as the overall number of entities you see increases "naturally" with the length of a round.
