Some Creature Suggestions

Figured I should jot down some monster ideas for future reference.

Passive Creatures
Ghost Whales
Resemble whales of earth, but almost entirely transparent, aside from a bit of carapace on their back. They are bioluminescent, their insides glowing through their transparent bodies.
About as long as a Reaper Leviathan, and much thicker and fatter. They move slowly, and communicate through long, low, eerie, almost mournful "songs" comprised of multiple tuned hums.

Gulldove
Small, semi-aquatic reptile-birds that fish above the Safe Shallows. They will sometimes dive into the water to catch peepers or other fish that swim near the surface. They have avian features, but slender, bat-like wings, similar to a pterodactyl that allow them to slice through the water as they dive. They can be seen flying in groups of 3 to 5, or floating on the water's surface like ducks. They may also perch on subs and sea bases if they are above the water's surface. They make unpleasant, fluttering caws, that some might say sounds like sarcastic laughter, but Gulldoves have no senses of humor. Their sense of sarcasm is pretty spot on, however. They can also be found around the Aurora.

This creature suggestion has been made redundant by the addition of Skyrays

Ball Lobster
Primitive crustaceans, about the size of a skateboard, that use their armor plates for defense by curling up into a tight ball when threatened. They can then be picked up and thrown around like a basketball, but that would just be mean. They can also be grabbed with the Propulsion Gun and be fired like a cannon ball. They have dark purple shells, with blue bioluminescent stripes down their backs from their antennas. they can also be eaten as a food source. They live in the Safe Shallows, Red Plains, Grassy Plateaus, and Kelp Forests

Quartz Crab
Small, burrowing crustaceans that metabolize salt in the form of white crystals on their backs. Form a distance, they can easily be mistaken for Quartz deposits, but will pop out of the sand and attempt to scuttle away if grabbed. Their meat is exceptionally salty, and will keep for longer, but is unable to be cured.

Kelp Turtle
Large terrapin-squid creatures that dwell in Kelp Forests, feeding on creepvines. They have thick armored shells, with long front flippers that end in webbed claws, with trailing tentacles coming from the rear of their underbelly. Their shells are specially evolved to ward off Stalkers, as such, Stalker Teeth can sometimes be found lodged in their shells for easy collection.

Bloat Squid
Round, baseball bat shaped cephalopods with bulbous heads and two, small round tentacles. When threatened, they will attempt to intimidate predators by inflating their head like a balloon, their natural markings looking like a fearsome set of teeth and eyes.

Poison Dartfish
Small, minnow-like poisonous fish that are deadly if consumed. They can be caught and their poison glands harvested to coat your knife with their deadly toxin to make fighting larger creatures easier. Their poison dilutes rapidly in the open ocean, the effect on the blade lasting for about 30 seconds.

Screamer
Small, large mouthed fish that scream when approached. They'll keep screaming as long as you hold them, and can even be heard with their screaming muffled while in your inventory. They REALLY do not like being messed with. Not something you want to put in your fish tank. They are tasty, though. Their screams of terror can alert nearby predators of your location, as well.

Seeker
Large creatures that somewhat resemble Reefbacks. They have small heads, with 3, tiny yellow eyes, and 4 large, incredibly bright shining eyes, similar to spotlights that they use to scan their surroundings. They let out loud, deep calls similar to a foghorn. Unlike reefbacks, they have a single, muscular tail that slowly swishes as they swim.

Aggressive Creatures
Vortex
Long, flabby sharks, that capture their prey by sucking in a vast amount of water to draw in small fish, and even you. They swell up to the size of the Seamoth at their biggest. They take a while to expel the water, so if you can avoid being sucked in by their initial attempt, you can easily escape. They don't normally drop anything of value, but they can suck up and swallow loose items and must be killed to get those items back.

Raptor Shark
Slender, muscular creatures covered in large, shining scales. They have long necks, powerful jaws, and long, thin, muscular arms ending in a single, sickle shaped claw that they use to slice their prey in half before eating. They can be seen doing aileron rolls, and sometimes sharpening their claws by rubbing them against one another. If two Raptor Sharks meet, they may sometimes fight over territory, with one killing the other. Raptor Claws can be picked up near dead Raptor Sharks, and can be whittled down by the fabricator to make fish hooks for fishing rods.

Would spawn in Mushroom Forests in place of Bone Sharks.

Lurker
The Eldritch horror Lurkers are man-sized, squid like creatures that use a combination of camouflage and blinding ink to ambush their prey, before attacking by constricting them and crushing their bodies with their long, powerful tentacles. They typically inhabit deeper, darker regions, such as the Jellyshroom Caves. They can be spotted by a wary player by their red, glowing eyes betraying their position. Their DNA can be used to turn the player partially invisible.

Caster Eel
Caster Eels are predatory sea snakes that can jettison a sticky webbing from an organ on their tails to ensnare prey. About the size of a slip n slide, their nets can trap an unwary player, but can easily be cut through with the knife. can be harvested for their webbing pouches for making fishing nets.

Grumpfish
Large, fat, unsightly fish about the size of one of those propane tanks you buy at the store, that make noise, and bully smaller creatures. They are the embodiment of grumpiness. Even their calls resemble an old man going "Harumph". they do not actively pursue players, but will bite if the player gets too near, or if you happen to be in the Grumpfish's way. And they can't even be harvested for food or anything useful. What an asshole.

Rapier Shark
Sleek, narrow, agile black sharks that attack their prey by swimming at extremely high speeds and slicing them with the sharp bones on their face and fins. They have a jet like organ underneath their tails that allow them deadly bursts of speed. Rapier Sharks are social creatures, and can be seen jousting with one another. Their sharp fins can be harvested for a sharper knife that doesn't last as long. Rapier Sharks are intelligent, and have a unique sense of "honor". If they see the player holding a knife, they will swim around in front of them, and pause before attacking, as if challenging the player to a duel.

Would Spawn in Grassy Plateaus/Red Plains in place of Bone Sharks.

Facehugger
Cousins to the Bleeder, Facehuggers get their name from the way they attach themselves to the player's mask to steal oxygen. They do not do damage, but the way they steal the player's oxygen can be extremely deadly. Fortunately they only dwell in shallow areas, and only suck out about 10 seconds worth of Oxygen.

I might doodle up some crappy little designs of some of these later.

These sound awesome! I didn't read through all of them as there was so many but the ones I read were so cool!

An Idea I had floating around randomly earlier was to have some kind of wasp/hornet fish that could swim like a wasp or a hornet flying and looked similar. But also that they try to sting you with a tail like stinger. They're not small probably like the size of a gasopod or something similar, but I also think what would be cool is different aged fish like smaller or bigger depending on age or something like that that'd be cool.
