Some builds ago player was able to access the crafting station while sitting on a bench. I guess the same was true in the earlier builds about accessing inventory and storage.
Please bring this ability back!
Right now the bench serves almost no purpose (waiting until sunrise? Yes, I did it, maybe twice).
Reason - a somewhat lengthy and slightly boring text ( :
The thought of my precious food and water trickling down while I browse through the crafting station options at my leisure adds an unneeded stress. The game does not let me time to browse the crafting and make decisions, thinking the stuff over while I plan ahead for materials gathering and crafting. In real world, planning ahead would take the same ten minutes as in the game, it is not scalable.
So, I really liked to be able to sit on the bench in the evening, stop worrying about hunger/thirst, and spend the night browsing the crafting menus and lockers, taking inventory and planning my next expedition for the morning, gathering up the stuff for it and such.
Surely I can eat/drink after that, but it takes away from the immersion, to have to eat/drink after a very short (RL scale) session of decision-making. There is also a semi-working workaround, of course: set the game on pause, and check the crafting on the wiki. This way I still cannot look through inventory, will still have to spend resources on what in common sense would be a 5-minute operation.
Gold? Check. Silver? Need to mine a few more. Food? Need to pick up a couple on the way home. Where is all the quartz? Ah, I am running low. Need to get some more in that new area I bumped into yesterday. Do I really have to suffer from hunger and thirst just by taking inventory and planning for a couple of minutes?
Thanks for reading : )
