Building in Unassigned Areas

Just thinking today as I was cruising in my Cyclops over an unassigned area; what would happen if I built on this area and the devs then created a new biome in that area. Would my base be destroyed or would it be imbedded in new scenery? >.<

Just curious, but where were you when you found this unassigned area?

Here's a screenshot. The rescue pod is off to my left and the Grand Reef is behind me.

Right now your save data is not updated with new world updates. So nothing would change in that save and to see the new hotness you would need to start a new game.

Does that mean that when we get new updates we have to start a new game from scratch?

Only in the case of new biomes, as far as I'm aware.

    For map updates? Yes.
We already HAVE had such updates, and I saw huge huge changes when I started a new game. Basicly the whole environment was changed.
