Horrible framerate

I often get extreme bad framerate. When I'm at my base. In certain parts of it. It really started when I built a cyclops and would pilot it near my base. I have a fairly powerful computer. It meets the recommended specs. I shouldn't be having this problem.
My important specs:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-core 3.5GHz
GPU: Radeon R9 285
RAM: 8 GB

So big base + many many materials in storage = byebye performance.
Also I wonder if you are playing in a old world, or in the recently rebuild word? For me that made a world of difference in frame stability also. (It in essence means to start a new game.)
I am taking a guess thats its the loads of stuff in storage. At the moment hoarding is a bad idea, performance wise.
Same thing happens to me, and I have a gtx 980, core i7 4790k, and 32GB of RAM. The game still needs to be optimized. Not surprised since its still so early in development.
I realize that being in early development issues like this can happen. It's really frustrating though. In one room of my base it's so bad I can barely get anything done. I have to wait and see if I'm in front of the storage I want before I left click. Leave the room can be hard because of the stairs. I'll have to wait and see if I'm pointed in a direction that will get me out before moving forward. Often I'll walk into the side of the stairs if I'm being impatient.
