First of all I want to start off by saying that I am very sure quite a few folks will not agree with the following thoughts. It will not hurt my feelings in the least for you to express that disagreement, though I hope any back and forth can be done with civility. I am not trying to persuade people to agree with me and I am not trying to start any type of caustic debate about censorship here. My intent with this post is simply to state a personal preference to Tom Jubert as follows.
I am very much looking forward to watching, listening, and reading as the story takes shape in the game and have only heard good things about your very qualified skills in that department. My hope is that it would be compelling but not overbearing on the significant freedom the player currently enjoys in exploring and discovering the game world. It's my understanding that is something you take in to account well any way and I wish you the best in the implementation work ahead. I would request that you also take into account the wide age range that currently enjoys the game. I very much like the fact that I can recommend this game to young and older alike. I am also hoping that in game logs, recordings and whatever dialogue might go in, would be of a PG nature or better in that regard. I personally don't use coarser language and I always find it refreshing when a game doesn't pigeon hole or confront my character with it, especially when it really isn't necessary. I also sometimes play with a younger audience watching in our house and am therefore mindful of it in that case as well.
Again, these are very much personal preferences, not a rant or an attempt at indictment of others. I don't feel the same way but I can definitely see others making the case, just as well, that it lends to realism for them or that they simply do prefer it as general preferences go. You (as a dev and writer, with your own style and personal opinion on it) know best how broad the audience appeal is you're looking for and how heavy or light you feel is appropriate to go on the matter. Thanks for considering this particular opinion on the subject though.
