Modding the BalanceVars.txt file no longer works?

Back when I last played this in March (before my gfx card died) I was able to adjust the oxygen tank values in the BalanceVars file so my oxygen tanks had more capacity, since recently returning to the game I've found adjusting this file no longer works, is there a different file now that I should alter?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

I am trying to find a way to alter my game save to have a bunch of quartz in my base inventory because I think I used it all in the world. (unless the devs want to make another way to use the fabricator to make quartz (like when you dig send it would collect it and if you take 10 sand you can make a sand bag and 5 sand bag to make 1 quartz, yes it would be a bit of work but it would be for those that have run out of quartz in their world.

You can use the dev mode commands/cheats in game to give yourself more quartz easier.

First, Go into the game and hit ESC to pause the game, Then push F3 to bring the options menu.
select "disable console" ( far top corner, small text hard to see) and then F3 to close.

Now re enter the game and hit ENTER, a small dialog menu should appear where you can type your cheat in

Item Quartz 50

Then press enter and enjoy the extra Quartz.

(You can of course change the 50 to 100, 500, or whatever amount you need.)

I was also hoping to be able to copy the section that has my bases, subs, and etc so I can copy it into the new game save so I can keep what I have built/done so far but move it into the new graphics/map that was included with the new update.

Alas I don't think that's possible, but one thing I did was use the F1 menu for my location and wrote it down, I have several "base" locations, with the new farming update, I think I am going to have to either go with a multi-level base, or find a new bigger area

Nope. A lot of the variables in balancevar don't even work anymore anyways. I believe its being deprecated since its a mess
