Dutch translation

Hello devs, programmers and anyone involved creating this wonderful game.
As I am located in the Netherlands, I've noticed certain elements within the game (experimental build) having been translated into Dutch.
Awesome. It's not done often. That's why most Dutch gamers had to adapt and learn English.
I think it's nice to be able to play this game in my own langauge though, and it will help the younger generation getting into it.
However, your translation could use some work. I'm guessing alot of the translation is being done by Google Translate, or someone who might have been able to speak Dutch a very long time ago, but hasn't done so in years.
The problem is context. For instance the word "fins" become "vinnen". The translation is correct... when you are talking fins on fish. When we are talking about the fins, diving gear though, the translation should be : "zwemvliezen".
Currently the game is filled with small mistakes like this.
Would it help if I sent tickets with the correct translation for certain things I run into?
Regards,

But yeah, it is a nice option to have regardless. It is funny to see silly mistakes like that "litteral out of context translation" vs "Typical proper Dutch translation"
You can actually help to translate the game by modifying the json files in the "SteamApps\common\Subnautica\SNUnmanagedData\LanguageFiles" folder. Natural Selection has a properly set up moderated translation community, not sure if Subnautica has the same...
@Obraxis, you know anything about this?
Dammit, the second one already has the grammar wrong
Ga in de wereld van Subnautica -> Ga de wereld in van Subnautica
Even better would be, "Duik in de wereld van Subnautica"
The English one also sucks, should be "Dive into the world of Subnautica" instead of that boring "Enter the world of Subnautica"
Always a pleasure to unexpectly run into a fellow Dutch person.
Well you are right... I do prefer English too. And I have no need really for a Dutch version..But if they are doing this in Dutch, better do it right.
Now It's much like the Japanese translating into English in the old days. "All your base are belong to us"
"Reclaimed metal" is being translated in to : "Metaal Terugwinnen"
Where it's simply... "Schroot"
There's a lot of work to do... and I don't mind helping out.
Ga in de wereld van Subnautica (wrong)
Ga de wereld in van Subnautica (correct)
Duik in de wereld van Subnautica (correct)
"in" vs "de" depending on the initial word used
Also it appears UWE has a central translator site: http://translate.unknownworlds.com/translations It works using upvotes/downvotes IIRC
But I see no harm in someone translating for the few dutchies who do not know english. Although I am pretty much with Kouji on the translation opinion. (also dutch ofc)
Its why im not in a hurry to translate ns2. Noone ever asks.
(ps you should see some translation suggestions for ns2, Kouji. You would go equally "wuuuut".)
So far I know there in fact is a subnautica translation portal. I mean, why else would they need to move the ns2 one?
How the ns2 one works, and I assume SN also.. is translators make translations. They can vote for which translation they think matches best.
The translation lead picks the best one. (or ignores them all and makes his own and approves that.)
This means the lead translator needs to be quite strict to make sure the translation stays sound.
I may look into SN myself when I finally finish translating NS2.
