No auto-weapon switch when you walk over a stronger/new weapon. There problem solved. At times I don't like taking a HMG because I would rather stick w/ the LMG for the time being and it becomes a pain when I drop my HMG, grab LMG then by itself it drops the LMG and picks up the HMG. I eventually get it right, but it's just an annoyance if you ask me.
Ya wanna new pistol after placing your mines? Type 'kill' in the console.
You get back to base faster, you get your pistol back and it didn't cost the team a single resource point. Besides, you were probably going to die trying to get back anyway.

This thread ends here, too many flames, too little actual content.
Bottom line: If you're issued welders or mines, you're either working in groups, so someone else can take the equipment, or your commander is trying to make you repair / defend a base, in which case you're not supposed to shoot, but to repair or to place mines.
The decision of making welder and mine slot2 didn't occur due to lazyness, but due to balance issues.
And yes, weapons dropped by marines last thirty seconds.
