Another log:
About your issue, what's your "Texture Handling" value? It's badly named and it means the amount of video RAM available. However, it's also incorrectly explained or implemented as you should NOT set it to the exact amount of VRAM but instead set it to your VRAM minus 512 Mb. For example, I have GTX 770 with 2 Gb VRAM and I set texture handling to 1.5 Gb. When it was set to 2 Gb I had random crashes all the time, now it's (almost) rock solid. Just don't Alt-Tab and everything else will be pretty good. I'm playing on Debian Stretch daily for 1-2 hours and I haven't seen any segfaults for a long while.
I have an Nvidia 980ti with 6GB VRAM, the highest option is 2GB+ which is what I set it at. Are you saying I seriously need to turn it down...with 6GB VRAM.
Try to set it to 1.5 Gb as I did and see if it makes any difference. Visually it doesn't change anything, but stability becomes nearly perfect. Only had a couple of black screens after map load recently but that's it. Most of the time everything is great. I noticed textures popping up when this settings is on 0.5 Gb, looks similar to Rage issues, low-res textures being replaced with high-res ones over time but on 1.5 Gb it doesn't happen.
