making the terrain realistic

you know when you reach the end of the world and theres just a giant pit going down? you could do much more instead of just that you could make an amazing underwater island or even make a secret sunken ship? you could do loads of stuff. i know this is an early access game and i am being a bit cruel but still if the terrain was much more realistic and instead of a pit that goes down and down and down i think people would like the game much more and like exploring all the hidden stuff not just a dark pit with nothing in it.

Lol the pit is there because they haven't had time to add more to the map. Not because they thought it was realistic.

Everyone knows it doesn't look realistic.
It's not there to look realistic.

    its a placeholder, @bond007. that's what 04Leonhardt is saying.
the game needs some sort of boundary (they can't just keep building forever!), and you are right, a big cliff or a giant wall is unrealistic.
I think it should become a vast expanse of deep boring sandy nothingness, and when you enter it, a giant monster spawns and eats you. So the game has a more realistic boundary. If they fill that zone with bones and such to warn you, it will be a visible boundary that is again realistic.
