Was playing fallout 4 (great game btw) and I went to a small park area with a pond and some swan boats. I had seen many warnings reading "SWAN" and "KEEP OUT; SWAN" so i instinctively immediately started throwing molotovs at the swan boats hoping that i could uncover something cool. I did, and almost died in the process. One of the swan boats in the water was actually a giant, and it popped out of it's pond and chased after me... It's name was swan. Now, this discussion isn't about fallout, so let ne just end the story and let me tell you i ran out of molotovs and minigun ammo trying to kill it and only barely survived... Subnautica needs mini bosses, and here are some suggestions.
• Sandy •
A massive, unmoving sand dune sits in front of you. It's very different than the flat ground around you, and you are no idiot, so you know not to touch it. You shoot it instead. Turns out, it's actually a giant horseshoe crab covered in sand, and now it's chasing you at an unexpectedly quick rate, it's armored body absorbing all the shots. This thing is bigger than a reaper leviathan btw, and much thicker.
• Cattail •
OH great, ANOTHER large object in a generally flat area. It's a area covered in greenery; lots of seagrass and cattails and various plants, caking the ground. This blob I'm the center though, it's quite shaky and wobbly. Stab it. It's now floating, and darting around wildly, still a mass of plantlife, it's only defining body part is a large cattail with a proboscis sticking out of the top, must be it's mouth. It moves around you, darting around you quite fast, but stopping completely occasionally.
• Hide •
In some random cave system, a long tunnel with a flat, nearly unbreakable wall with many large holes for you to fit through. So why not squeeze through one? Well because there's an eyeball there now. And tentacles that act like large crabsnakes, attempting to grab you and kill you. So keep stabbing the eyes, and avoiding the tentacles.
• Sentience •
In a cave system with a large opening, and walls of crudely made titanium, a massive mutated lobster half covered in silver armor, monitor screens, engines, and a giant broken speaker crudely tied to it's back with wire waits to kill you. It moves horizontally around the large circular dome, and attempts to grab and crush you with it's claws in the darkness.

i only agree that
- more animals should have disguise
- and in the idea of mini-bosses
your two examples are intriguing but they diverge from what i consider the game's range of creature types. its a good idea, i hope something resembling it makes it into the gameThis is not a combat game m8.
Fighting bosses using puzzles would be interesting, though. Like getting a Reaper to charge into volcanic stacks to blast it with Lava.
