Radioactive Zones post reactor fix

Currently after the reactor fix on the aurora there is no need for the radiation protection suite. I really would appreciate if the developers would keep the aurora radioactive and add a lot more interior to it. Basically making the aurora it's own full fleshed biome thats pehaps only fully accessible after the reactor fix. Maybe the Devs add a huge radioactive Cavesystem beneath the Aurora with a connection to it over the ripped open ships hold. This would keep the radiation protection suite usefull and make use of the currently "wasted" space the huge ship whreck takes on the map.

Exploring the aurora will be a huge deal in the finished game as far as i know, it will have alot of story elements involved, so when story gets implemented, the aurora will get more and more accessible aswell is what im guessing. I think its a good idea to have the radioactivity go away completely tho, so you can use your stillsuit or any other suit and dont have to carry the other one around.

The areas inside the Aurora you can currently access are very new additions to the game - still under development. There are quite a few developer posts confirming there's a lot more in store for it as well as an entire story driven player interaction system planned. I imagine that means a lot more to do with the radiation zones.

As one of the 'eco-friendlies' of Subnautica, I would like to find out my actions (or inactions) in regards to the Aurora and the damage done are at least somewhat reversible which is why I enjoy the new content and ability to fix the radiation leaks.

The radiation suit is an early-game progression tool. As @Lightdevil mentioned - there are other suits you'll want to use instead later on.

I definitely agree to wanting more explorable areas of the Aurora zone but I don't think those necessarily need to be entirely dependent on the radiation suit, unless the player has not yet figured out how to repair the leaks.

Come on guys! As it is now you use the radiation suite just ONCE for the one visit to the aurora - after that there is no use for it. That's pehaps 15min. playtime? What a waste.

I recall reading a Trello card where ideas where tossed around concerning radioactivity. I don't remember all of it but it seems they at least toyed with the idea of having other areas radioactive as well. I think it was something about collectable uranium in radioactive zones or it being radioacvtive itself.

    Two words "Early Access"

I'm sure it's going to be useful for other stuff as well

Players who have been playing the game a long time and know exactly how to get into the Aurora and what to do, sure, maybe the radiation suit is only used for a short period of time ... but think of new players who are just learning the game. They will be 'exploring' the radiation zones quite extensively. My first playthrough I didn't dare take it off a long time. I didn't read spoilers so it took me awhile to figure things out, get over my fear of the Reapers near the Aurora and actually do extensive searching of it... Maybe your experience was different but I can say as a new player I was certainly grateful I had that suit and wore it a long time even when I had resources to build the other suits.

And, as already repeatedly pointed out - this is just still early Alpha stage. There will be a lot more to do in the radiation areas to come.

To be honest I wouldn't call this game in an early alpha stage. While not feature complete it is fair to call it beta  - especially as they aim release at middle / end of the year O_O

I have to disagree with this assessment of the game currently.

This image is the perfect example of what I mean.

    I am absolutely stealing this!

EDIT: I also agree with your statement. One only has to spend a couple of days in experimental tree to see the rate at which they are adding and changing content places the game firmly in alpha (maybe even early alpha) territory.

In addition, I would love to see the wrecks that they are going to be adding all over the place remain radioactive, adding an element of danger to them, while also fitting in with the story of a highly radioactive explosion occurring, of which they will all be debris.

I think its only for 15mins because we've played through the opening part of the game so many times that we know what has to be done in what order. For someone new coming to the game, they will likely spend a few hours playing around before they head to the ship to fix anything.

LOL every single time I use that image ppl go and steal it. Nevertheless I don't mind, I myself stole/borrowed it from the steam forums. It's handy to have when you see a bunch of people posting bash posts against the devs and the game of an early access title or seeing the posters saying they need to focus on bug fixing instead of adding more content. Over on the 7 days to die forums I even had a developer ask if he could use the image and I said go right ahead since it's on my imgur account.

This. Combined with my suggestions on COMMON SENSE HARVESTING HAZARDS the Radiation suit would be a handy thing to have in your wardrobe well into the game.

"Oh, time to go harvest more Uranium and Scrap Metal... where's that Radiation suit?"

Mining Uranium ain't that dangerous, only prolonged exposures gives you superpowers!
