First time poster here, thought I'd share my ideas.

I personally love what the devs have been doing recently, with the new customization features and gadgets! I'd like to see more!
  • Customization:
I hear people talk about how they want loads of submarines and other vehicles to choose from. A variety of ways to traverse the ocean sounds great, but instead of quantity, why not continue focusing on customization?
Rather than a huge variety of submarines, how about one or two subs that focus on being as modular as possible? Maybe you'd pick from a few basic frames (small, medium, large?), and the various devices on the ship (engine, bridge, dock, etc) would instead take up slots, and can be switched around. You could switch out the engine entirely for a more efficient model, or one that focuses on speed. You could have specialized tools you could install, like sensors for detecting anomalies, a navigation room with a 3D map like on the seaglide (only larger). Space would limit what you could fit (for example, a small sub could mount either a scanner or a weapon on the front, but not both), so you'd have to use a larger ship to fit all your cool stuff, sacrificing maneuverability. Having these devices could change how the subs look, allowing you to create essentially completely different vehicles using the same base.

  • Gadgets:
For gadgets, I'd love to see more handy devices like the scanner, and the 3D map on the SeaGlide! Maybe a motion detector for finding all those things that slither about in the dark, or a biome scanner for learning about the area you're in and what you can expect to find there. Basically, fancy gadgets that let you learn about and manipulate the world around you in new and interesting ways!

  • Personal Log:
How about a personal log? A way to create your own record of events. Maybe a pda/camera to take pictures, and being able to add your own commentary to what's going on. You could use it to write your own story of survival on an alien ocean planet, or just personal notes to keep track of things. I think it'd be a neat little feature.
