Escape Pot swims away - how to orientate?

I bought the game 2 days ago so I´m pretty much a still a noob.
I just started a new survival game and after maybe 10 minutes of playtime the Escape Pod starts moving away extremly fast. It was barely possible for me to get a Habitat creator in this small time. Is this correct? This looks way to fast for me...
And as a consequence: If my Escape pod is gone after some minutes, how am I able to orientate myself? I mean, if I build base, how can i find it again?

Thanks for answers and sorry if I`ve overlooked something

Yeah I think that is a bug, I don't think it should be moving at all, unless I'm missing something here...

^Apparently there is going to be a gravity anchor in game, which you can secure that damn pod with. That's new, I purposely don't play the game so I don't get spoilered on content. This also means I don't know about new content, most of the time... I've dabbled in the safe shallows and the kelp forest for now :D

On the topic of locating stuff. There is a blueprint for beacons, which can be placed at any location you choose and given a name.

As Kouji state there is now a Gravity Anchor feature added to the Lifepod that maintains it right where it is.

    (spoiler)
Of course, in order for this anchor to work, you need to repair the interior of the the Liffepod first (The damaged panel to the left of the Fabricator). To do that you will need to fabricate a welder tool first tho. In order to make a Welder, look into the Frabricator menu and locate the elder tool, the recipe to make it will be listed there
