What Biome is this and why is there a abandoned Seabase?

The seabase is 200m - 300m deep! when i first saw it, i wondered why? how long was i unconscious when i crashed, how come there are already bases established and why is it wrecked and abandoned? Help me out please.

That is the Jelly Shroom caves, and as for that base? There's some hints on the floating island about where that particular base came from. Given how bad off the bases on the island are, I believe whoever built them and this one were survivors from another ship that crashed before our own.
