I just want to say, keep up the good work.
Subnautica is the most, for want of a better word, "Complete" feeling game ive ever played on Early access on steam, and i and several of my friends are eagerly awaiting the point in the future you guys feel the game is ready enough to being work on the multiplayer component you've mentioned before, wither its in 6-8 months, or several years ^_^

I've just done a quick google now to check and I'm pretty this is still current.

Multiplayer isn't planned for the game. It's something some of them would like to add but there are significant technical hurdles - it having been designed from the start for single-player - so they've not promised anything.
Personally I would also love to see multi-player but think the game is worth it even without. It's a pretty unique survival game. Just the fact it's not designed like most where you can equip a weapon and click on aggressors a couple of times until they die makes for a very different experience. Plus the whole sci-fi alien world thing. I've never played anything quite like it.
minor correction, thats.. not what that post actually said. ive read it before, which is why i made the comment about "several years", the original concept was for a multi-player game, but they decided to focus on the single-player experience in order to reach the point of Leaving EA/alpha/beta sooner slash havign the gameplay locked down before designing netcode form scratch
*edit* i.e the thing about them not planning to look into/ work on it in the short
or medium term i.e almost certainly not looking at it in less then a year, if not significantly more time, not that they WONT, period..
If Subnautica is the critical and commercial success we all know it could be, then all manner of options will open up, one if which will surely be co-op/multiplayer.
Assuming it happens down the road, it will be worth the wait.
No you've still got this very wrong. I suggest you read it again.

They haven't ruled out multi-player but they equally haven't committed to including it, ever. The only thing they could guarantee was that multi-player wouldn't be added to the game any time soon.
