I love and hate Hardcore

I forget all the time after coming back to a game that you die ad 50 meters water of no o2. I really need some kind of warning. Its artificially hard without that O2 warning. Its already insane as it is with first time dying and its fine.
I just had a good game today with a Reaper Leviathan chasing me riding a sea glide through kelp forest. Most intense moment in 2 parts. 1 part finding out its after me. Pause and running around in the house panicking hopping no one sees me. Part 2 15 min later saving my skin fast through kelp forest and every cave I could find. Saved and out. Later I start the game again and totally forget the O2 thing. Its so demotivating because I know I do it again. I haven't died to a single real thing in 7 hardcore games now. Only 02. In real life you down there LONG time. Not seconds or minuets.

Fantastic game by the way. Maybe the most fantastic game ever for my part.

In all honesty i never die to any creatures anymore either, its often close calls with the O2 tho lol
the last 10-12 Hardcore games ive played i didnt die i just had to abandon them for the sake of trying new updates as i play in Experimental (updates in experimental tends to apply weirdly to old saves).

TBH hardcore mode is as challenging as survival mode after playing a while. What this game really needs is a true mode splitting between players who like it more easy, but still a bit challenging (the survival mode) and players who love every challenge and don't complain (how hardcore mode should be). That means different handlings for different modes:
    • survival rates
    • farming rates
    • creature aggression
    • easy vs. realistic sub controls
    • death consequences
    • inventory and weight differences
    • ...

Please devs, just let us different players with different preferences on exploration and challenge keep us apart by giving us 2 true separate modes.

3 oxygen tanks for me. I am all in for very hardcore gaming. Its just personally lame for me dying to this mechanism because it slip my mind one single time ever time.

It does feel really weird that your suit/pda can tell how hungry you are and warn you about that, but not how much O2 is left in your tanks.
