Two ways to complete game: Research all lifeforms or construct a rocket ship.

Rather than establishing a solitary experience and ending, I believe allowing players to choose from multiple objectives/story modes would be more interesting and ensure more replay value.

I have two ideas:

1. Research and gain specimens of all lifeforms.

This would require players to scan and collect samples of all flora/fauna within the game. I believe this would be appreciated by those intrigued by the alien lore and ecology. Furthermore, this would mean braving the deeper “horrors” would be unavoidable.

A larger scanning device could be an additional "Cyclops" modification, allowing players to research larger and more dangerous threats while fleeing.

To “collect” larger specimens (knowing the likes of "Reaper Leviathans" are incapable of being captured), perhaps additional eggs could be collected. All specimens would also be stored in "Preservation Chambers", a new item which could only be constructed in seabases.

2. Construct an underwater launching station and rocket using planet materials.

This project would demand innumerable materials/resources (both common and rare), forcing players to traverse every biome and depth. I believe this would evoke a sensation of procedural achievement and rewarding exploration for players.

The escape launch would also provide a climactic and memorable ending sequence.

I suggested something similar a while ago, I agree it would add a tremendous amount of replay value. I would also like to see the ability for players to create their own story line and make it available to other people
