Currently Subnautica lacks an end game and I don't know if the developers have one in mind but I thought it would be a good end game to have the player get off the planet by crafting his own ship.

This will be an increbidly difficult task as the specialist materials required will not be easy to obtain. Getting certain parts will involve venturing to dangerous biomes and killing various creatures, one of which will be a giant hostile creature at the lowest depths of the ocean.

The final task will involve tracking down the source of the energy blast and using their alien technology to complete your ship.

I think the developers have planned one, because there is a "Sea emperor prison" or something. I've also heard that the Sea Dragon Leviathan and Emperor would "have a big role in the story." I think a story has already been planned.

    killing various creatures

    NO. WEAPONS. IN. THIS. GAME.

I would rather avoid, or raise and domesticate the wonderful alien life than have to kill it. Yes, even the Reaper Leviathans; I want to raise a baby one - and a baby Sea Dragon and Emperor in my Tanks. :)

Using the Transfuser to carefully harvest DNA without causing harm to the creatures is better.

Violence is to be avoided if possible.

@AzzBlock I can totally understand why people want an Endgame scenario, i am also sure there will come one as the developers have something in mind.
Just for me personal i dont know if i want an endgame scenario. I want to survive as long as possible, exploring this world, live in it, i dont want to leave !

@Coranth Dont understand me wrong, i like the non violence in subnautica. No weapons, no real killing (except the little fish you eat or hit with your seamoth)
But i am missing the survival feeling. In other games of this genre i have this constant fear that enemies show up who will kill me or destroy my base. In subnautica surviving is pretty easy at the moment.
