Lifepod 17!! part of storyline?

you can't interact with it yet.... but i'm guessing they are gonna put clues here to where the survievors were kidnapped.

You found one of few lifepods, i saw them sometimes but we can't do anything with them right now...

First thought when I got that message was "What the hell, why should I dispatch help while waiting for help, lazy Auroa." xD
Got a bit disappointed that it said coords attached and found none, or I am to stupid to find where they are attached ;-)

In my case - my game was bigin right above lifepod 17 which lay on seabed with nice hole in its hull. When i've receive this message i think 'wtf? there is nobody!'
I think DEVs must replace Lifepod 17 to surface of any island or just drop it in game after receiving this message (as it was before - when they dropped in game all gray boxes after Aurora explode). And add to Lifepod 17 something useful (i dont want to see in there some dead crew member body )

Could be worse than seeing dead people. At least you see em. For now there ain`t another single Human to be found (as far as I know), dead or alive. Imagine some fish who took bites off of them. ^^

It could be that most of the Lifepods were simply blown out of Aurora's hull.

Maybe they will put PDAs in some of the destroyed Lifepods to give a bit more story to them. The Lifepods seem to be all about creating a more dangerous atmosphere to the game. Whether it gives a sense of urgency to rescue the other survivors from the aliens, show the main character that they are lucky to have survived, or the almost futility of going against the aliens.

that`s what`s being done with an escape pod, blowing em out of the hull... .
and there are comm messages that show there are survivors.

The fear of being in a sinking Lifepod with no way out gives more impact than just a lifepod with a hole in its side.

now that you mention it, in one of my really old saves I managed to get mine sunk too. Forgot how and it never went back to surface. xD

there is life pods 19, 15, 14, 3 that u can find

You can build a Cyclops on top of the Lifepod. I had to push the Cyclops off in order to get into the Cyclops. Maybe that is what caused your Lifepod to sink.

now that i think of that must be hard to get the Cyclops on the life pod anyway

Not hard just be lucky and deploy the Mobile Vehicle Bay near your lifepod. The Cyclops is always built a few meters above the surface of the water so it can fall on top of your lifepod.

Yep, maybe. In some youtube let`s plays you can see our Life turning around strangely by standind on it.
