Using knife or scanner propels me backwards

Whenever I hold the right mouse button to use a knife to cut or a scanner, I just get pushed backwards. If i keep the button held I push back until i reach the surface. This makes it almost impossible to scan or cut anything with the knife. This happened on a brand new game, Not on experimental.
