Another "Is there other survivers" thread....YAY

I recently bought Subnautica on Steam and I, of course, love this game. I never really got into the forums until just yesterday and I didn't see anything about "Are there other survivors," but I am SURE that there is a lot of them here.
So as I was fixing the communications relay in the lifepod, I got the normal distress message and got to thinking. Is there more than one person on the planet? Now, I know there are other lifepods around the world that have the hole on the side indicating that the person in said lifepod most likely died. But isn't there a lifepod that can't be found? Is that person alive? There are some abandoned sea bases and some bases on the island, but what happened to them?
Again, I just got the game and I may be missing some information about this, but I just wanted to make another thread about this stuff.

    Right now there's not much for story. In a few months the Devs will add in the full story and it'll all make sense

    Sticking this in Spoiler tags if you'd rather find out for yourself.
    One of the Communications Relay messages had these tidbits to say:
    "Nine new biological subjects designated. Mode switch: hunting/analyzing. Sharing subject location with other agents."
    "Subject 11783 destroyed. Switch mode: patrol. New targets unaccounted for: 1."

    It might mean there were other survivors, but now only you remain. Of course, all that's just speculation and as well is subject to change - the Aurora was originally a colonization vessel and it was changed to be a mining vessel, so who knows.

    I reckon the other survivors are still alive and around but no longer human.

    Not too long ago there was a Twitch stream with the developers and they firmly stated there that there will be no other survivors/other humans for us to meet in the game.
