Making Lead out of Gold

Alchemy is the study of turning lead into gold. It has a plausible principle: by removing a few protons and electrons from a lead atom we can create a gold atom. This fission reaction requires huge amounts of energy but it has been accomplished in the real world. The fabricator - which is super high-tech and "atomically rearranges materials" from the description - should be able to complete this reaction.

Additionally, lead seems like more of a mid-late game material. The limetone outcrops which are dotted all over the starting areas are among the first sources we mine for resources. Limestone should be dedicated to titanium and copper, which are super important right from the get go. Gold is found a bit later, starting from the deeper parts of the Kelp Forests and becoming more common in the Koosh and Jelly Shroom biomes. This seems a more suitable time to collect lead for later game crafting like the radiation suit, nuclear reactor and nuclear rods. Also, gold in Subnautica is overly abundant but practically useless. Turning it into lead makes it so much more valuable. Ironically.

I know the source of lead in Subnautica has been changed so many times with new updates. I feel that my suggestion has enough of a scientific and gameplay basis to be considered for the future. Thanks for reading!
