Kickass man, looks better than the ones from AvP2. I think there needs to be a touch more green in the tan camo, not a new color blotch but a general hue shift to change it abit. Heres a fairly good reference pic(That actually has clear, non scary lighting cause its a model)
Very, Very good dude. However, I think you should Re-Skin those pouches. I think the pouches on the belts of the Marines from AvP2 look better. And you need to add more of the pouches as well. Also, make the armor a bit darker in color. Just a tid bit. And for reference, search on Google or whatever for, "Safariflage" camo. Because, that was the camo BDU's that were used for the movie. well thanks for all the positive feedback, but dun leavy the actual camo used in the movie was an experimental camoflage developed for vietnam, little used, and james cameron decided it would be as close to his concept art as possible for use in the movie. i may add a neck vambrace but if it clips ill have to remove it.
if anyone doesnt like the colours of the armour or camo of the trousers im sure after general release there will be a slew of reskins so dont worry, something to your taste will eventually appear on these forums. this model as is , is just the way i imagined a colonial marine to be, (not as true to movie as can be type look) but rather how a marine would personalise his equipment to suit his/her personal habits and taste. not everyone would choose to wear a neck vambrace, like in vietnam not all marines would wear a flack jacket because of the heat problems.
i dont even know if ill add shoulder bells yet, i may leave the arms bare or whatever, i kinda like the rough look on skins, notice all the metal fatigue and general scratchiness of the metals? this to me looks like a combat used marine, not one of those fresh from boot camp types.
after i finish this ill develop some new aliens (not based on any from movies or books) i mean who says the colonial marines only fought bugs? (i can imagine there are lots of species they could kick the proverbial arses off) this would also appease the ns staff who dont like this movie franchise stuff at all, and provide a new dimension to the virtual life of a colonial marine in game.
if anything make the shoulder belts....hey itf u can also...make the front armor have hudsons little skull thing on it from the movie to give it a lill oomf in saying...look at me im big and bad so go away....if u can get a good decent replica of the uscm...then people will praise you and hey maybe even start a cult with you as there god i dunno....but if u can add the shoulder belts and the helmet flap ur all set...great job again

well that is the camo used in the movies, i kinda like it because it looks kinda odd, but reskins could be made to make it appear greenish, just alter the skins colour settings in photoshop or something, np really. i only had a small really bad quality pic of the original camo but i managed to extrapolate on that and make the camo very exact finally.
It'd be easier if you just did a green recolor or something (hey you said it was easy), but okay. I think my Paintshop time expired, but I can probably do it in Photoshop, maybe color tone it. Like Geek said, I think it needs a little more green tone. That's what that action figure had.
well i can run the avp2 model pack with the updated movement fixxes and such perfectly without any lag so it wont be a prob for me, but some people here do run lower spec machines. In the meanwhile keep skinning. Probably should start to find someone to host it too. hosting is no problem, i have 30 meg online space, so a mirror or two would be nice too i suppose. i know some people will want to use this model, and some wont, and some will try it and reskin it, thats all good in the end, but mirrors would help with more people getting access to it.
awsome job dude..only suggestion i would make is maybe makin the neck a lil less fat..in the front face pic the neck looks a lil fat....maybe see if u can put some facial features in it to like a lil bit of peach fuzz or something...gives it that rough marine look and takes away the feeling of the guy looking fresh and clean.......so yea maybe just rough up the face lil bit more and make neck lil less fat....other words the model is awsome.....im definatley replacing my models with this when u are done...maybe even host you on my friends site if u want
