In my opinion they should not add anything to the game in v1.0 but:
*Fix bugs
*Remove as much clipping as they can
*Optimizations for better performance
*Better Settings for sound, graphics, FOV etc.
*Overall making the game more stable

That's not exactly how designing a game works, the content creation by artists/modelers/animators/level designers/sound engineers, are doing their thing, while the programmers do their thing. Your list consists of mostly the programming side of things

Ergo, both can coexist
Agreed. They're already working hard on all those things as it is (they wouldn't have got this far if they weren't looking to address stuff like that). That doesn't mean they should stop looking to improve and develop the game though.
