Not to be a negative nancy, but how's everyone feeling about that autosave feature mentioned on Trello? I'm really hoping it's optional or for a backup save. I tend to hate autosave when it overwrites my manual saves for how it takes away my freedom to experiment and mess around. One practical matter I can think of is when building bases I sometimes dislike the end product and quit & load to before all was built so I can give it another try. An overwriting autosave would not allow me to go back.
An autosave feature is nice for those times when you haven't saved in four hours and would lose progress in the game. But I wouldn't want it to be automatic either, as sometimes the game can bug out that could cause permant problems with the current save file (exiting the Seamoth suddenly disables swimming, a crucial wreck fails to load, unintended aggressive creatures spawning where they shouldn't).
Recently in a new game I had just managed to avoid the Reaper Leviathan from killing me by swimming inside Lifepod 4 (I had no Seamoth at that point). I saved at that point to prevent losing my inventory from death, but he kept swimming around to attack me and would never just go away. While his attacks can't damage you inside the pod (it made scanning for his PDA entry far easier!), he would kill me everytime I left the pod. After four failed attempts and reloads, I finally used the INVISIBLE console command to leave so I could continue on.
My point is, if something like that happened during a crucial point for an autosave, if it were bad enough event you would likely have to start a new savefile over due to an ill-timed feature.
Most games save the autosave to something like autosave-1, 2 etc, whereas the normal save is different.
I hope that wouldn't be the case for Subnautica. The early game is reasonable, but after 20+ hours of gameplay progress, my savefile tends to run between 1-2 GB of data. I couldn't imagine having 10-20 GB of multiple autosave files on my system.

When terraforming is gone the save files should be a good deal smaller.
J.J. Abrams has taken control of Subnautica's development... Now, be on the look out for any R2-D2 Clones flying away from the Sunbeam explosion, more destroyed spaceships and...
I just realised, if that's lens flare for the ocean floor, what would it be like for the Aurora and Sunbeam explosions? I feel like it would be cool if the Precursor gun had a lens flare when it fired, but the explosions would be a bit over the top if you ask me

Who designs those skeletons?
If i don't get to make that warper a bear skin rug in my base I'm going to be mad
Or even a wrap-around disguise for my Seamoth.
