Too many Sand Sharks?

Am I the only one who thinks there are too many sand sharks in the grassy plateaus biome? It seems like ever since the machinery update they've been roaming around in packs and are super fast. I've even had a few wander into the safe shallows. You'd think that since they like to burrow into the sand that they would be more of an ambush type predator than one who hunts in packs. Every time I go to the grassy plateaus I used to have to watch out for all the biters. Now the sand sharks are even worse. Hopefully they get toned down a bit in a future update.

I noticed this too. I thought it might just be me. I was like "when did sand sharks become schooled". It's easier now that I have my vortex torpedo though

Fit the Seamoth with the Perimeter Defense System, drive to the center of the crowd, touch off a short zap, and they all flee in multiple directions for a while. If you want to thin them out, hold the charge button down for a full power zap. It only takes a few full power jolts to kill them off.

    Alternatively... 'accelerate to ramming speed!'

I did this when trying to scout the Dunes. Several sand sharks refused to allow me entry, so after a while I just rammed them a few times and they ran off. They came back some minutes later, but by then I had grabbed the fragments I wanted and began heading into the Dunes proper.

Perimeter Defense is the best bet if you have the Moonpool to do it though.

I don't like to ram things with the sub, it takes damage, and then I gotta get out and weld it.

True, but it works in a pinch.

I have to admit that I think, in some cases, there are too many animals in one biome, such as bone sharks and the electric worms. However, I still enjoy the game.

Them Bone sharks and Sand sharks truely are a bane of existence now, which i love extremly. Exitting the seamoth now in the respective biomes theyre in can be scary and thrilling. Even when u do a fully charged ZAP from the defence perimeter, they come back rather quickly and sometimes some of them dont even flee and seem to take the punishment like-a-boss

Also, exploring wrecks now becomes a bit more thrilling as you can hear them sandshards roaring from the other side of that thin wall, reading to eat yer face at any moment (and since this is a game you never when one could glitch thru a wall and come say hello  )

Might just be me tho, id much rather have more than less. I remember when there used to be less of them i often felt like exploring wasnt as thrilling. Just yesterday i was passing thru the Koosh biome and left mah trusty Seamoth to go scan a fragment when i suddenly got gangbang'ed/raped/bullied by the combined numbers of a few bonesharks and Shockers!

My life passed from 100% to 20% in matters of seconds lol my moth has the perimeter def. but them shockers arent impressed by it at all ..... suffice to say, i perished the thought of scanning dat frag pretty fast

If there's people having significant trouble with the fish numbers, that ought to be tweaked. But me personally, I love it as it is. There's a very particular thrill and satisfaction to be gotten from waiting for an opening and then rushing in to take it. I especially love getting the moon pool console fragments for this reason - lots of sandsharks, a depth just past 200m, and if I'm out of luck a reaper not far away. It's exhilarating to just go for it and not be stopped by any of it. Wreck exploration also def is more fun when there's a good amount of predators around (unless they are inside the wreck. That's just not fair).

Yeah, I am pretty sure one of them winked at me when I shocked it. Like "hey baby, I like that stuff too"
